D VITAMIN IS CRUCIAL FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF ATHLETES

Untitled-3

D VITAMIN IS THE MOST POTENT STEROID HORMONE ON HUMAN BODY.

Just like all steroids hormones, D vitamin functions turning the genes on. This means that in hundreds of tissues on your whole body, D vitamin (calcidiol being transformed in calcitriol) exposes your genome! It signals your gens to produce hundreds of crucial enzymes and proteins to maintain the health and fight against diseases.

D vitamin effect on physical performance has been known for decades. In the 50s, a series of German studies mentioned the benefits of D vitamin on athletic performance.

It is widely known that the physical and athletic performance is seasonable; more efficient in summer time than in the winter.

D vitamin also increases the size and number of Type II muscle fibers (fast contraction). Most of the studies show that the levels of 25 (OH) are directly linked to physical and muscle performance in elderly people.

Another recent review concluded that most of the studies show that the levels of 25 (OH) D are directly linked to physical performance in elderly people. Therefore, according to the researches performed specially in elderly people, D vitamin improves physical performance.

It is not only the performance of elderly people that is affected by the deficiency of D vitamin. A recent review concluded that:

There is an increasing evidence which supports the existence of a functional role of D vitamin in the skeletal muscle, with a potential impact on athletic performance and also on sports injuries of young healthy people.

Other studies showed that low levels of D vitamin are a contributor for bone fractures and joint lesions in athletes.

Conclusion: D vitamin can improve athletics performance in people with deficiency levels of this vitamin. The athletic performance peak seems to occur when “25(OH)D levels reach out the optimum values of 100ng/dl”. These D vitamin levels can also protect the athlete from multiple chronic and acute medical conditions.
